Women s Cross Country: Jones Named PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month

GREENVILLE, Pa. -Westminster College senior Jenny Jones (Erie, Pa./Fort LeBoeuf) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month for October.

Each month, the SAACs at PAC member institutions are asked to nominate one male and one female student-athlete for PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month consideration based on academic and athletic accomplishments. Nominees must be a varsity member in their respective sport(s) and in their junior or senior year. Scholar-Athlete of the Month nominees must also have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher and be actively involved within his or her campus community.

Jones, a four-year letter winner, four-time All-PAC Second Team performer and two-time team MVP with the Titans' cross country program, was the school's top finisher in every race she's participated in over the past three seasons. She has earned a spot on six-straight PAC Academic Honor Rolls (fall with cross country, spring with track and field).

On campus she is a three-year member and two-year officer with Westminster's SAAC, is the secretary of the Student Government Association (SGA), serves as a teacher's assistant in a first-year writing class and works in the English department. A leader with Westminster's Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), Jones also serves as a weekly copy editor and bi-weekly writer for The Holcad, Westminster's school newspaper, and performs the National Anthem at number Titan athletic contests.

She serves as the president of Kappa Delta Pi, an education honorary, and Pi Sigma Pi, a local scholastic honorary, and is also a member of Sigma Tau Delta, an English honorary, Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honorary, and Alpha Gamma Delta, a social fraternity. Jones is also a sweetheart of Westminster's Theta Chi fraternity.

Majoring in English with pursuing a minor in secondary education, Jones carries a 3.988 grade-point average (GPA).

Thiel College senior Steve Morgan was named the PAC SAAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Month for October.
